NUEVOS CURSOS DE ESPECIALIZACION EN GYM.FUTURLAB.ES . Durante este mes de Septiembre quedará definida la oferta de cursos de especialización para el curso académico 2012-13. Estos cursos destacan por su enfoque práctico y su visión actual e internacional, impartidos por profesionales de éxito en el ámbito internacional. El objetivo de estos cursos es enriquecer el curriculum vitae de los alumnos y darles conocimientos para que éstos abran sus posibilidades laborales y herramientas para que puedan llevar a cabo su actividad profesional en diversos frentes. Durante este año 2012 se van a ofrecer dos cursos de especialización: “PORTFOLIO – Taller Profesional de Self-Coaching y Búsqueda de Empleo para Publicitarios” y “COOLHUNTING – Taller Profesional de Identificación y Análisis de Tendencias”.

PROMOVIENDO LOS ESTUDIOS DE FUTUROS CON LA FREIE Y SALZBURG UNIVERSITY. Enric Bas ha sido invitado a formar parte del Academic Board del European Journal of Futures Research (EJFR) una nueva publicación de acceso abierto que pretende ser una plataforma para trabajos académicos reconocidos internacionalmente en futuros posibles, probables y deseables en el ámbito Europeo.
La revista está abierta a artículos sobre sociedad, política, economía y ciencia y tecnología, buscando tanto estudios de disciplinas concretas como estudios de carácter inter y multidisciplinar.
Esta iniciativa es liderada por el Prof. Gerhard de Haan y el Prof. Reinhold Popp, pertenecientes a dos de los centros de investigación más destacados en el campo de los estudios de futuros en Europa: Institut Futur (Freie Universität Berlin) y Center for Futures Studies (Salzburg University of Applied Sciences).

Enric Bas has been invited to join the Academic Board of European Journal of Futures Research (EJFR) a new open access publication that aims to be a platform for internationally recognised scholarly work on possible, probable and desirable European futures. The journal is open to articles on society, politics, economics and science & technology and encourages both, forward-looking indisciplinary as well as disciplinary studies.
This initiative is leaded by Prof. Gerhard de Haan and Prof. Reinhold Popp, working in two of the most outstanding research centers in the field of futures studies in Europe: Institut Futur (Freie Universität Berlin) and Center for Futures Studies (Salzburg University of Applied Sciences).

CAIXAFORUM, 27 DE JUNIO. Esta semana tuvo lugar la presentación de la trilogía “Prospectiva e Innovación”, que supuso un emotivo acto de homenaje a los pioneros de la Prospectiva en España: Emilio Fontela y Jesús Moneo. En este homenaje intervinieron Federico Mayor Zaragoza, Enric Bas, José Manuel Morán, José Luis Ripoll y Fernando Velasco. Al acto asistieron grandes personalidades -como Ricardo Díez Hochleitner, Presidente de Honor del Club de Roma-, directivos de grandes organizaciones vinculadas relacionadas con la Prospectiva –como Iberdola, Cruz Roja, OPTI, Telefónica o The Millenium Project, entre otras-, y amigos y familiares de Emilio y Jesús que quisieron honrar su memoria y legado. Y respetando este legado, desde FUTURLAB seguiremos reivindicando la Prospectiva como herramienta para la Innovación; bien hizo Federico Mayor Zaragoza en recordarnos que “el futuro ya pasó, lo que está por venir es el futuro, y es nuestra responsabilidad construirlo”.


This week took place the presentation of the trilogy “Foresight and Innovation”, which was a moving ceremony to honor the pioneers of Foresight in Spain: Emilio Fontela and Jesus Moneo. In this tribute intervened Federico Mayor Zaragoza, Enric Bas, José Manuel Morán, José Luis Ripoll and Fernando Velasco. The event was attended by great personalities -like Ricardo Díez-Hochleitner, Honorary President of the Club of Rome-, managers of big organizations linked with Foresight issues -like Iberdrola, Red Cross, OPTI, Telefonica and The Millenium Project, among others, and friends and relatives of Jesus and Emilio who wanted to honor his memory and legacy. And respecting this legacy, from FUTURLAB we will continue claiming Foresight as a tool for innovation; as Federico Mayor Zaragoza remind us “the future is over, what is to come is the future, and it is our responsibility to build it.”

FUTURLAB AT AALTO: THE EUROPEAN SILICON VALLEY

FUTURLAB EN AALTO: EL SILICON VALLEY EUROPEO. Invitados por Riina Subra, Directora de Prospectiva en Aalto Impact, Mario Guillo y Enric Bas estuvieron visitando el Campus de la Universidad de Aalto, especialmente diseñado para convertirse en el centro de referencia y excellencia europeo en innovación y emprendizaje. Un lugar donde MICROSOFT y NOKIA han invertido ya alrededor de 18 millones de euros. Este campus, basado en un modelo educativo e investigador único, comprometido con la multidisciplinariedad y el aprendizaje colaborativo y participativo, es un sitio donde la creatividad y la proactividad son promovidas de forma activa entre los estudiantes. Estuvimos visitando tanto la DESIGN FACTORY (el lugar donde las ideas se convierten en innovaciones al concretarse en prototipos, y donde los estudiantes trabajan con las empresas, y aprenden haciendo) y la AALTO VENTURE GARAGE (el invernadero para estudiantes que se convierten en emprendedores y crean sus propios embriones de empresa). Gracias especiales a Stefania Passera y Henna Kärkkäinen (lideres del proyecto MIND!) y a David Leal (Analista de Sistemas Integrados e Investigador) por su amabilidad. Durante las reuniones se debatió sobre diversas posibilidades de colaboracion entre FUTURLAB y AALTO. Os mantendremos informados!

As guests of Riina Subra, the Foresight Manager of Aalto Impact, Mario Guillo and Enric Bas were visiting the Aalto University Campus, specially conceived and designed to become the outstanding european centerpoint of innovation and entrepeneurship. A place were MICROSOFT and NOKIA have made investments by around 18 millios of euros. This campus, based on a unique educative and research model commited with multidisciplinarity and collaborative and participative learning, is a place were creativity and proactivity are actively embraced among the students. We were visiting both the DESIGN FACTORY (the place were ideas become innovations trought prototypes, and were sutdents work with firms and learn by doing) and the AALTO VENTURE GARAGE (the greenhouse for students who become entrepeneurs and create their own start-ups). Speciall thanks to Stefania Passera and Henna Kärkkäinen (leaders of the MIND! project) and to David Leal (Embeeded System Analyst and Researcher) for their kindness. Some futher collaborative initiatives between FUTURLAB and AALTO were explored in the meetings. Will keep you informed!

DISEÑANDO LA SOCIEDAD A TRAVÉS DEL PENSAMIENTO: NUESTRA VISITA A LA UOH. Durante las últimas décadas, Finlandia ha invertido grandes cantidades de recursos y esfuerzos en la construcción de su sistema educativo, que es referencia a nivel mundial y que constituye un pilar esencial para su desarrollo económico, tecnológico y social. Pero lejos de conformarse con lo conseguido hasta el momento, las universidades finlandesas siguen invirtiendo en innovación educativa, sabedoras de que es la única manera de seguir siendo líderes en este ámbito.

Esta es la conclusión general que extrajimos tras visitar la University of Helsinki invitados por Kirsti Lonka, vicedecana de la facultad de Ciencias del Comportamiento de la Universidad de Helsinki. Durante esta visita tuvimos la ocasión de presentar algunas de las iniciativas más destacadas que FUTURLAB está desarrollando actualmente, y de conocer algunos de los más destacados proyectos de innovación en entornos educativos que esta facultad, en colaboración con el gobiernos finlandés, ha puesto en marcha.

In recent decades, Finland has invested large amounts of resources and efforts in building its education system, which is a reference worldwide and is an essential pillar for economic, technological and social development. But far from satisfied with the achievements so far, Finnish universities continue to invest in educational innovation, knowing that is the only way to remain leaders in this field. This is the general conclusion extracted after visiting the University of Helsinki invited by Kirsti Lonka guests, vice-dean of the Faculty of Behavioural Sciences, University of Helsinki. During this visit we have had the opportunity to present some of the most significant initiatives that FUTURLAB currently being developed, and to meet some of the most outstanding projects for innovation in educational environments that faculty has launched in collaboration with the Finnish government.

20+20 THINK TANK: FUTURES OF FUTURES RESEARCH

THINK TANK 20+20: EL FUTURO DE LA PROSPECTIVA. El Centro Finlandés de Prospectiva (FFRC) fue fundado en 1992, y pronto se convirtió en una referencia mundial en Prospectiva e Innovación (el FFRC es un actor fundamental -el encargado de investigación- del Sistema Nacional de Innovación Finlandes) debido a sus éxitos e influencia. El 20º aniversario del FFRC sirvió de excusa para organizar un Think Tank Intensivo (de un solo día) sobre el Futuro de la Prospectiva, bajo el título “20+20″, y al que fue invitado a participar un selecto grupo de 20 futuristas de todo el mundo. Enric Bas fue uno de los invitados a participar, junto a Erzsebet Novaky (Hungria), Jennifer Gidley (Australia), Rakesh Kapoor (India), Peter Bishop (USA), Cornelia Daheim (Alemania), Jerry Glenn (USA), Thierry Gaudin (France), Markku Willenius (Finland), Susanne Giesecke (Austria), or Jennifer Casinngena (Malta), entre otros. El proceso fue dirigido por Olli Hietanen, Asesor Científico Principal del Comité para el Futuro del Parlamento de Finlandia.

The FFRC-Finland Futures Research Center was founded on 1992, and soon it became a worldwide reference both in Futures Studies and on Innovation (FFRC is a key actor -the one leading with research- of the Finnish National System of Innovation) because its succesful outcomes and wide influence. 20th Anniversary was the reason for FFRC to organize a One-Day Think Tank on Futures of Futures Research entitled “20+20″, where about 20 worldwide top-futurists were discussing and proposing. Enric Bas was invited to join the think tank, as Erzsebet Novaky (Hungary), Jennifer Gidley (Australia), Rakesh Kapoor (India), Peter Bishop (USA), Cornelia Daheim (Germany), Jerry Glenn (USA), Thierry Gaudin (France), Markku Willenius (Finland), Susanne Giesecke (Austria), or Jennifer Casinngena (Malta). The Process was leaded by Olli Hietanen, the Main Scienfic Advisor of the Committee for the Future of the Parliament of Finland.

ENRIC BAS, PONENTE PRINCIPAL INVITADO EN EL PARQUE CIENTIFICO DE TURKU. Electrocity, el Parque Científico de Turku, fue el sitio elegido por la Universidad de Turku para acoger el 14º Congreso Anual del Centro Finlandes de Prospectiva (FFRC), que se inició el pasado 6 de Junio. El Director de Futurlab, Enric Bas, fue invitado por el FFRC a actuar como Ponente Principal con una conferencia titulada “Futuros Creativos: el Papel de la Juventud en un Mundo Nuevo y Cambiante”. Otros ponentes que participaron en el evento fueron Jennifer Gidley (Presidenta de la WFSF-Federación Mundial de Estudios del Futuro y Profesora de la Queensland University of Technology, Australia) y Les Back (Profesor de la Goldsmith University, Reino Unido). El evento fue presentado por Juha Kaskinen, Director del FFRC.

ULTIMANDO LA PRESENTACION DE “PROSPECTIVA E INNOVACION”. Hoy ha tenido lugar la última reunión con motivo de la presentación del libro “Prospectiva e Innovación”, que tendrá lugar el día 27 de Marzo en Caixaforum (Paseo del Prado 36, Madrid), y con la que se pretende rendir tributo a D. Emilio Fontela y D. Jesús Moneo, auténticos pioneros de la Prospectiva en España. En esta reunión tuvimos el placer de intercambiar ideas con D. Federico Mayor Zaragoza, D. José Manuel Morán (Vicepresidente del Capítulo Español del Club de Roma) y D. Marcos de Miguel (Director de la Editorial Plaza&Valdes), personas cuyo papel ha resultado clave para organizar un homenaje a dos personalidad tan relevantes como nuestros amigos Emilio y Jesús.

Today it has been held the last meeting on the occasion of the presentation of the book “Forecasting and Innovation”, which will take place on March 27th in Caixaforum (Paseo del Prado 36, Madrid), and which aims to pay tribute to D. Emilio Fontela and D. Jesus Moneo, true pioneers of Foresight in Spain. At this meeting we had the pleasure of exchanging ideas with D. Federico Mayor Zaragoza, D. Jose Manuel Moran (Vice President of the Spanish Chapter of the Club of Rome) and D. Miguel Marcos (Director of Editorial Plaza & Valdes), people whose role has been instrumental in organizing a tribute to two personality as important as our friends Emilio and Jesus.
